Non:bedside health care professional who provides emergency clinical care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, identification, planning, implementation and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies, procedures and/or protocols under the supervision of the Operations Leader. Potential for telecommuter option after obtaining clinical certification from AAPCC national exam.
:Collects data pertinent to the healthcare consumer's health, healthcare provider's questions or the situation
:Analyzes assessment data to determine treatment recommendations
:Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation
:Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
:Implements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery and employs strategies to promote health and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
:Attains knowledge and competence that reflects current clinical practice
:Utilizes appropriate resources to plan and provide clinical services that are safe, effective and financially responsible.
:Supports and contributes to the Patient Centered Care Philosophy by understanding that every teammate is a Caregiver whose role is to meet the needs of the patient
Works in the Carolinas Poison Center, a 24 hr emergency call center. Requires long periods of sitting, utilizing the telephone headset and computer. Must be confident in ability to maneuver through many software programs while viewing multiple monitors. Must speak English in good, understandable terms. Intact sense of sight, hearing and touch. Finger dexterity. Critical thinking skills and ability to concentrate in a fast:paced environment with numerous interruptions. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and call center conditions.
Education, Experience and Certifications
A pharmacist, RN, MD or Do, PhD in a scientific field or other health related professional. If a CSPI, must successfully recertify according to AAPCC criteria. Pharmacists and RNs must be licensed or eligible for licensure in NC. Must attain certification by the AAPCC within 2 examination periods of their initial eligibility for the certification process. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from AHA required.
